Dance Recital

Last night was Harleigh's dance recital.  This year they danced to a song from the Disney movie Mulan, called Reflection.  It was really pretty!  They also did a final dance with the other dance classes to Ice Cream Freeze.

Todd got her some flowers and Brodie surprised her with a dozen roses, WOW her first dozen roses, she felt pretty special with flowers from dad and big brother.
We also had to take a picture with her dance teacher, Michelle Ashton.  Thanks Michelle for all of your hard work and for your patience with the girls.

New Haircut

Harleigh went with me last week to get my hair done and for an appointment of her own.  At first she wanted to just trim her hair but then she decided that she wanted to cut it quite a bit.  I think it turned out pretty cute.  She was relieved that she could still pull it up in a pony tail though, something she's gotten into the habit of doing with her long hair.  One nice thing is the bangs she decided to grow out last year are now the same length as the rest of her hair.

We also had to show off her Easter dress in this picture!

Tuesdays Thoughts and Tidbits

I got an email this week from a friend with some really cute pictures and to each picture were the following thoughts. I couldn't get the pictures to cooperate so that I could include them into my post so I'm just including the thoughts.

  • Age is mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.
  • Never underestimate a child’s ability to get into more trouble.
  • Falling in love is easy, but staying in love is something very special.
  • A friend is, as it were, a second self.
  • You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old.
  • A friend is someone who reaches for your hand but touches your heart.
  • Wherever you are, it is your friends who make your world.
  • Who finds a friend, finds a treasure.
  • The fundamental job of a toddler is to rule the world.
  • Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional.
  • A hug is the shortest distance between friends.
  • Laughter is the medicine of life.
  • Laughter is the shortest distance between friends.
  • Life is full of surprises.
  • It’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.
  • Love doesn’t make the world go round, but it makes the ride worthwhile.
  • Having a place to go is a home. Having someone to love is a family.
  • To have a good friend is one of the greatest delights of life.
  • Happiness is an unexpected hug.
  • The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents.
  • Friends have a way of speaking without words.
  • Families are like fudge, mostly sweet with a few nuts.
  • To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world.
  • To have joy one must share it.
  • It is important to have a twinkle in your wrinkle.

Have a great Tuesday, even if it is a blizzard outside!!!

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

I'm finally getting around to posting some Easter pictures from our annual Easter egg hunt. Since the weather didn't cooperate we had to move the celebration inside. We had our dinner and hunt at Smokey and Kim's house.
Too bad you don't have sound effects for this picture because the entire time these kids were chanting "NO, NO, NO, NO" about having their picture taken. GEEZ!! They did manage to give me a few smiles though!!

We had two Easter egg hunts, one for the little kids which was upstairs.

And then one downstairs for the older kids. To add a little challenge to the hunt, since it was inside, we blindfolded the older kids. It was H I L A R I O U S!!! If you need a good laugh, I highly recommend this method of egg hunting. And if watching them with their blindfolds on wasn't enough, Smokey added a few twists. He put holes in Colbie's sack so when Colbie put an egg in it fell right back out. Then the little kids would go around and pick up the eggs just before the poor blindfolded hunters would go to pick them up and move them. We were laughing so hard watching them.

And what would our annual Easter egg hunt be without the "GOLDEN EGG". Last year it was hidden here .
Well since the weather didn't really cooperate we had to come up with a good place to hide the golden egg. It was hidden in my niece, Courtnie's sweatshirt. As you can see in the pictures they were turning Smokey and Kim's house over while the golden egg was "just sitting and waiting"!
And here are the happy hunters checking out their stash. Our big winners were Mason who found the golden egg in the little kids hunt winning $5.00 and Eraleigh who found the golden egg in the older kids hunt and won $10.00. Of course Eraleigh would win, she bent over to fix Courtnie's sweatshirt and found the golden egg, none of the boys would have noticed something strange about Courtnie's sweatshirt. I think Colbie may have been the big looser because of all the eggs that fell right through his bag and then while he went to look for the golden egg he left his chocolate downstairs and Todd found Mason and Kaydn shoving the chocolate into their mouths as fast as they could. Poor Colbie.

Tuesdays Thoughts and Tidbits

I have some Easter pictures that I need to post and blog about but until I download my camera I found this and thought I would share, even if Easter was a couple of days ago, you can learn a lot from the Easter Bunny:

ALL I NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED FROM THE EASTER BUNNY
...Don't put all your eggs in one basket
...Walk softly and carry a big carrot
...Everyone needs a friend who is all ears
...There's no such thing as too much candy
...All work and no play can make you a basket case
...A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention
...Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day
...Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits
...Some body parts should be floppy
...Keep your paws off other people's jellybeans
...Good things come in small-sugarcoated packages
...The grass is always greener in someone else's basket
...An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare
...To show your true colors you have to come out of your shell
..The best things in life are still sweet and gooey
