It's Monday...

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Apache Helicopter

Earlier this month my babysitter's daughter, Shari, called and asked if she could take Harleigh to the school to see the Apache Helicopter that had been flown in for the Summer School Program. Harleigh thought that she was pretty cool to get to go along. She was so excited to come home from Sheila's and tell her Dad and two brothers what she had gotten to do. I had told Todd that there was an Apache Helicopter coming if he wanted to see it but he didn't think it was an Apache, because he was sure I didn't know what it was, so he and the boys missed their opportunity, but not Harleigh, and she was sure to tell them all about how cool it was.

Thanks Shari, you made her whole day!!

Summer Soccer

It's time for summer soccer. Harleigh is playing again this year. She has only had two games so far, we missed one for camping and then they had a bye. Jayce took the camera to take a couple of pictures of her for me. Don't you love how nicely she poses for him.
He did manage to get a couple of good pictures, when she was busy playing so she couldn't pose for him. Most important though are the new shoes and shin guards.

They are PINK, which is very important if you're Harleigh. I didn't have time to go shopping and so Harleigh asked Grandma to take her to get new shin guards and they found matching shoes too. Harleigh was one happy soccer player. Thanks Grandma for taking her and making her whole day. She was more excited about the shoes and shin guards than the game.

F is for...

Finally finding time to blog. Bear with me I'm going clear back to the Fourth of July. This summer has been extremely busy and has been going extremely fast. First off can I say one fabulous thing that has happened this month is this new fence.

I have wanted a fence in our back yard since...

...this cute little boy could walk...he is now 16 and 6'4".

P A T I E N C E!!

It just seems like whenever we have been going to do it, the money has gone for something else. We put up two of the three sides, the third will be finished this spring, with our tax return. We loved having it over the Fourth of July weekend and still are loving it. We have so much privacy now . We live close to the park so it is great to be able to sit out in the back without everyone at the park being able to see us.

We enjoyed watching the parade. It goes right past our house but Harleigh and I usually walk down to the corner so that we can see the horses enter in, the horses don't go past our house, which actually is a good thing, since they usually leave something behind.

We've found a good spot, near the courthouse, and usually sit with other officers' families that I work with, so I can visit.

Watching the Veterans always makes me thankful for my freedom and for all those that have fought to keep our country free.

Todd has been busy with the Civil Air Patrol for the past few years on the Fourth of July but this year he was here to go to the parade with us. He didn't want to leave the house though as he put it "if I can't see it going past our house, it isn't worth seeing" so he stayed at the house. We actually have a lot of family that stop by to visit and watch the parade. I heard that Todd and his cousins got out the squirt guns to defend themselves against some of the float riders who had water. Not sure if I wish I would have been there for that or not, I'm sure I would have gotten wet.

Harleigh got her fill of candy at the parade.

After the parade we came home to some fun with our family, enjoying our new fence of course, and food, still enjoying our new fence of course.
Jayce is a barbequer, and he is an awesome cook. He wanted to do kabobs for the Fourth of July and they were yummy!!

Speaking of Jayce, he crashed on his bike the week earlier and then took another fall at the parade, don't you love how he and his friends bandaged it up??
One thing I love to do, especially on the Fourth of July, is proudly fly the flag.
And since this is all about "f" I'm loving how my flowers are doing this year! I finally figured out a secret that my father has been withholding from me all these years.

Harleigh has been wanting to make this cake since she saw it on John and Kate Plus Eight

So we made it to take to my parents house to eat before we watched the fireworks. Brodie went with some friends to the rodeo and fireworks. Jayce went with his good friend, Jake Wood, and his family to Idaho Falls to watch the fireworks. Jayce has been tagging along with the Woods for a few years now, I think Jayce thinks it is "his" tradition to go with them and who am I to break tradition. Harleigh and I went to my parents to watch the fireworks. Todd stayed home, hum is that becoming tradition?
Don't you love the new piece of furniture that Brodie came back with after the fireworks. His friends put it in the back of the pickup to watch fireworks. It is now a donation at Deseret Industries.
Since the boys were out with friends the evening of the Fourth of July we lit our fireworks the next night.

We had a great Fourth of July and I am so thankful for the freedom that I am able to enjoy. I am so thankful for the price that has been and is being paid so that I can enjoy my freedom.

One Year Old

Today my blog is one year old. I can't believe that a year has flown by already. Can I just say I love blogging, I'm actually capturing some of the memories of my children, family, and friends. I only wish blogging would have been around when Brodie was first born because I love how all of you document your babies everyday moments as they crawl, walk, and all of those "firsts". Although my children still have a lot of "firsts" I would give anything to have documented their early years like I know blogging would have made me do. I've taken SO many pictures, as family and friends will testify, documenting our memories, and driving them crazy.

I also have gotten to know so many people in the "blogging world" as I "stalk" their blogs. Some I haven't even met in person but feel like they are some of my best friends. I find that I feel a part of your lives and am happy for you in the good times and sad with you in the bad times.

I posted this poem in one of my first posts, so I have to share it again.

Ice cream melts, flowers wilt,
the leaves of autumn fall.
Sunsets fade, seasons change,
and children don't stay small.
Balloons pop, snowfalls stop;
do Summer's last? Never!
Weekends fly, today will die, but...
FAMILIES ARE FOREVER

I love that quote, it sums up how I feel "weekends fly", heck this summer is flying by but my family will be forever and I am thankful for each day I have with them and the "little moments" that blogging makes me capture and be thankful for.

So, Happy Birthday Blog and speaking of blog, I have a whole lot of catching up to do this week. I think I'll use my camera to catch up as I go back through the photographs since I last blogged.
Have a great week everyone!!

Summertime Fun!

On Sunday Smokey and Kim invited us up to a Dutch Oven Dinner to celebrate Dustie and Ashlie's birthdays this week. Smokey got some new cooking equipment for Father's Day and he wanted to give it a try. We had roast, potatoes, and carrots in the dutch oven and it was yummy!! The kids had a great time playing in the pond and the sun was out in full so that we could enjoy the day.

As you can see from the slideshow we had a lot of fun and a few of us got wetter than others. Thanks again Smokey and Kim for some summertime fun and a great dinner!
