Mind Bump

Have to admit I stole this idea from Janiel. Thanks Janiel!! Sometimes I can't think of anything to blog about or I haven't taken pictures of the things we have been up to so I just don't blog or like the past few months I just feel a little BLAH!! Today Janiel posted that she had found a new sight http://www.mindbump.com/ that gives you prompts to blog about. Now Janiel used a whole list of questions and answered them, but I just don't have her energy so I'm only going to pick one question. Anyhow I thought I would share with all of you in case you ever have a "bump" in the road of blogging.

What is your favorite 15 minutes of the day?

My favorite 15 minutes of the day would have to be bedtime, and not because I can't wait for them to go to sleep either, although that is an added bonus. When the kids were younger I loved the smell after they got out of the bath and when they were a lot younger the smell of baby lotion. I loved holding them and telling them stories just before they went to bed. I remember I used to ask the boys "what was your favorite part of the day" and they would proceed to tell me about their day. We used to make up silly stories about the Purple Polka Dotted Dinosaur. They always needed to have their backs rubbed. I always felt like no matter what had gone wrong that day it was our chance to spend a few minutes together and make some memories. I had to laugh last year because on Christmas Eve all three kids spent the night in Brodie's room. They hauled in mattresses and set up a "sleep out". When I went downstairs to tuck them all in the boys told Harleigh about these memories and wanted me to make up one of the silly stories about the Purple Polka Dotted Dinosaur.

Well you all know that I've been pouting for some time now that my kids are growing up but I still love the time right before bedtime. I still tuck Harleigh in and read her one (well usually three or four or ten) books before she goes to sleep and I have to rub her back. Lately Harleigh's favorite books have been the Fancy Nancy books, so not only are we reading but we are learning new "fancy" words.

I try to go down and check on the boys, but lets face it they usually are trying to stay up later than me most nights and I fail to take advantage of this time with them. I guess that if anything this "mind bump" reminds me to take some "treasured" time each night with the boys to reconnect with them each day.

As you can see my favorite 15 minutes, usually lasts a little longer than 15 minutes.
